Princess Brides

We've talked about a lot of things having to do with weddings, but one type of wedding we haven't mentioned much (if at all) is...

A Royal Wedding

I remember waking up in the middle of the night on July 29, 1981 so I could watch Lady Diana Spencer marry Prince Charles. I was sixteen and wanted to see everything as it happened. Live. Not taped delayed. I was exhausted by the time it was all over, but I didn't care. Staying up was so worth it. I know I wasn't alone that day.

How popular are royal romances and the resulting nuptials? Just check out the number of royally inspired romance novels, movies and television shows out there.  It comes as no surprise that my top selling book, If The Ring Fits..., featured a prince hero who needed to find a bride.

With the Internet, you can follow all the royal romantic happenings. There's a Royal Weddings topic at The Royal Forums as well as a blog that follows the relationships of the young royals in Britain. And if you want some hands-on fun, check out this site where you can dress a royal bride in different styles of wedding gowns. The Wedding Belles' dress designer Serena James would love that!

And just in case you wanted to see a real princess bride, here are four Cinderella brides who married their Prince Charmings. Check out the trains on a couple of those dresses!

Did you ever dream about marrying a prince and becoming a princess?

Loved the video! And I have to admit, even though I'm happily married to my country boy, as a girl I dreamed of being swept away by a real prince. Royal books, especially about the poor or unpopular girl meeting Prince Charming, are wonderful! I'm trying to think of one in particular but can't. Anyone have any favorites to remind me?

I love the whole prince/princess fantasy. Great video, by the way! I don't think I'd actually want to be a royal or to marry one, but I'm totally swept away by those kinds of fairy tale stories.

I grew up with a favorite collection of Fairy Tales and constantly touring the Gemology Institute at the Smithsonian because my mother's best friend was married to the director. The Hope Diamond, tiaras, crowns....
Day LeClaire did a trilogy recently set in the royal world of Verdonia, complete with a gem mystery. Princes and jewels...my favorite kind of royal tale combo.

I never dreamed of marrying a Prince. Shy girls who know that the Royals are always in the spotlight, never do. *G* But, it is always fascinating to watch Aristocratic weddings. *G*

Loved the vidio. I think that is every little girls dream is to marry a prince and live happy ever after, just like the fairy tale.

I don't think I would want to marry a prince, because my life would never be my own. I do, however, like the notion though.
