Your Funny Little Wedding Disasters….

I am not a blogger. I have no idea what to say half the time. So this morning when my mind came up blank for today’s blog I thought, this is a disaster…and the idea was born.
If anyone hasn’t seen Betsy’s Wedding, I highly recommend it for funny wedding disasters! I have nothing of the kind to add – apart from my sister’s wedding where my brother-in-law’s football team decided to make me their mascot, and threw me (bridesmaid) from man to man, up in the air! I won’t discuss a still-not-funny disaster where my father was Master of Ceremonies at my cousin’s wedding and got into the whisky first…none of us talked to him in days.
We had a few funny things happen at our wedding. Just as the car pulled up at the church, a summer storm literally broke out over our heads. I just looked out and gaped. But the chauffeur was not so easily daunted: he came around with umbrella, swept me into his arms and, balancing the umbrella over my head (don’t ask me how!) he carried me to shelter while my father, never at a loss for words, followed saying, “What about me?”
Then during the service, the priest said, “May they be blessed with children” and at that exact moment our baby daughter gurgled and said, “Ah.” Everyone burst out laughing. We, um, hadn’t told the priest about our daughter, so he was understandably confused.
We had to keep dodging the summer storms that broke out every time we posed for photos; the park was drenched, and my dress and train turned a nasty brown. No more spreading the train out for pictures…and our flower girl, my husband’s baby sister, had just lost both her front teeth, so we haven’t a single smiling photo of her. Kinda cute though.
At my brother’s wedding, my daughters were both flower girls. Walking down the aisle my shy youngest, just three, saw me and started to panic, saying, “Mummy…Mummy…” and stopped walking. My older girl and niece had to rush back, take her hands and walk her down the aisle.
Well, that’s all I can remember for now…has anyone got some real Betsy stories? Would love to hear them!

LOL those are cute. Well at my wedding my cousin's son, who was I think 3/4 at the time, made him a girlfriend out of the flowergirl..While he was to be the ringbearer he wouldn't walk unless he held the flowergirls hand.LOL And then he decided it'd be cute to see just what the Rev. had under his robes. Then the pillow that I had the good sense to just put fake rings on, looked good as something to swing over his head and prepare to throw(one of the groomsmen grabbed it before he let if fly). So then he moved to sit in between me and hubby and put his chin in his hand and look at us very bored. Needless to say we weren't nervous we were too busy trying not to laugh at him. He took his shoe off at one point and thought about throwing it....he's also the same little boy who went with us to look at wedding dresses and came home all excited and told his dad 'my Wendy is marrying a dress' all serious and excited. He was too adorable! And he caught the garter and did NOT want to put it on the woman who caught the flowers. He said "do I gotta, she's a girl. I don't like girls, well except a few, do I gotta?"

So he was our fun at the wedding.LOL

Loved him to death for it too.Sadly most of what he does you can't see in the video because he was so short that they couldn't get him in the video over people's heads.

hugs,
WendyK

My daughter's getting married next month outside so I sure hope I don't have a story like yours to tell. Now at my wedding my husband ran out of gas and was half an hour late and then announced it in his booming voice as I finally got to walk down the aisle to peals of laughter.

LOL, Wendy, my daughter had the opposite - ringbearer and flowergirl both burst into tears at the thought of touching! Jenson was definitely in the "Girls' germs" phase, and Taiyin is sooo shy. In the end, their mothers had to walk them down partway and Tai came to me while Jenson almost ran to his cousin, the groom, my son-in-law.

Kids do make things cute!

Were you worried he'd panicked and run, Catslady?

PS: Had to laugh at the boy sitting between you bored. I can just see Jenson's face inserted for your cousin's son.

So cute!

At my wedding we had to find a ring bearer at the very last minute and get my aunt to alter/shorten the tuxedo we had for the other ring bearer who backed out. My sister was flower girl and 4 yrs. old and the ring bearer was younger. He was so scared to come into the hall for the reception that my sister had to take his hand and drag him which caused many to laugh.
On the stage at the church he continually had to be turned around by the best man and when we exited the stage via stairs he almost ran me down. The stairs were so narrow and right up against a wall so me with my dress and him trying to fit in beside me and lurching ahead almost knocked me down the steps.

At a friend's wedding years ago, the priest was, well, um, three sheets to the wind. To be polite. *g* It was... interesting. LOL!

Oh, poor Brandy!!! Ouch! It's kinda like my drunk dad story...so not funny, even now.

But I have to say I had a really good chuckle at the ring bearer's and drunk priest's stories!

What cute ring bearer stories! We ddn't have a ring bearer or flower girl at our wedding (no one young enough to do the honors) and nothing even remotely unusual happened. I'm almost envious. A slip-up here and there can make a wedding more memorable.

Actually, the only wedding I can remember attending where anything remotely unusual happened was the one where the candles caught some of the flowers on fire in the middle of the service. That created a bit of a stir, but the fire was (thankfully) quickly extinquished, and the wedding went on.

It must be hard to have blog ideas... especially when it is around the same theme!

Something went wrong at my cousin's wedding. I can't remember what (it's been about 20 years). They had the wedding taped so there are plenty of shots on the tape of her glaring at someone she's annoyed with.

It is hard, Nathalie. I'm not a blogger as I said, and can't come up with ideas for every day. Don't know how I'll go in September when it's my turn!

My wedding went pretty well overall. One bad thing that happened was the florist forgot to make a throw-away bouquet for me. There was no way that I was going to throw my expensive silk bridal bouquet, so we had to scramble for something for me to toss. We found some PLASTIC flowers in a vase in a Sunday school classroom, tied a ribbon around them, and that's what I tossed! Classy, huh? :)
