Weddings! Not just for Grown-ups...
The Wedding Planners series has been part of my life for so many months now, I feel like I'm in constant wedding mode, on the lookout for anything I could use for blog posts, promotion, you name it. Imagine my surprise when the newest Fisher Price catalog arrived in my mailbox (I have three children, two girls and one boy) with their new
Little People Wedding Celebration set on the cover! My son wasn't that interested in it (he's 8), but my five year old daughter wanted it. Now!
I started thinking how weddings appeal to females of all ages so I thought I'd share a few more wedding toys I found. These would make fun gifts no matter what the age of your "bride."
This one almost interested my son when he heard the Playmobil name, but I think he would have liked the
Victorian Bride and Groom by Playmobil better if the groom was carrying a dueling pistol or sword. Though the top hat got high marks. Girls will love the bride's bouquet. I thought the detail was great including the white spats on the groom. I'm not really sure where these two fits into the sets sold by Playmobil, but this was an unexpected and interesting find.
My kids love stuffed animals and these two cuties are no exception. The
Calico Critters Wedding Car Bride & Groom earned another "I want it" from my five year old. My ten year old daughter thought they were adorable. This even intrigued my son. Well, the old fashioned car did! Dog gone cute, that's all I have to say about these critters!
Finally, we have
The Bride Barbie. Some toys never change! I had a couple of bride Barbies when I was growing up. My sister and I would put on elaborate weddings using Ken as a groom and a Hostess cupcake for the wedding cake. That was the one time we were really happy Barbies weren't real. More cupcake for us!
Of course, there are also the various bride costumes and accessories. The kids have a few of those in their dress-up box.
Did you ever play bride or wedding when you were younger? What about your kids, if you have them?

I made a wedding gown for my daughter when she was three to wear to a Halloween party at church. Her husband would not let her wear it. He made me make it into a princess outfit with blue cape and a Crown. She won first place.
I made her a Midevil wedding gown for her wedding over 5 years ago - gauntlets and all. It was so beautiful. However her wedding ended last Sept. as she relocated because her husband didn't love her anymore and wanted her out of his house. She has a new boyfriend but there won't be any more white gowns so I will keep this one as a reminder that I even sewed it with blood and had to keep wiping blood off the silk when I would stick myself. It was quite a feat since I have rhuemotoid arthritis.

You must be quite a gifted seamstress, squiresj. The costume and wedding gown sound gorgeous. Your daughter is fortunate to have a mom like you. And I'm sorry to hear about her marriage. I hope she finds the kind of love we all hope for our children!

I was too much of a tomboy to ever play bride or wedding. I wanted to be on the baseball field with my brothers.

I had Barbies and of course wedding gowns for them to wear! The calico corners set is absolutely adorable! It's making me squeeeee! *G* My daughter played with her Barbies and wedding dresses as well, although she preferred her Cinderella dresses. *G*

My daughter's "bestest" Christmas gift was a when dear friend put together a collection of dresses (which she downsized), shoes, jewelry, wigs, etc. One looked like a wedding dress (she had a veil and everything). We have a picture of her in that dress with her little sister in another outfit (silver wig, wand, long skirt and a boa lol) and we are blowing it up for her shower on Sunday!

I grew up on a ranch in Colorado and never once played wedding dress-up. My sister and I did make "garments" for the puppies, the rabbits, and a goat. There was too much other stuff to do than to play with dolls even though I had one or two.

I will have to say my Barbie and Ken were married several times. They even road off in Ken's Hot Rod. I still have my Barbie and Ken, Skipper, and Midge. I have the first Barbie that came out with the blond pony tail. They are in bad shape after all these years.

I used to love Barbie, but I was not aware they had a bride one... I guess my mom did not buy to me fearing it would give me wrong ideas!
