It's May and that Means...It's Almost Time for Outdoor Weddings
I love, love, love the whole concept of getting married outdoors...or at least having the reception outdoors, but
...planning a wedding is stressful enough. Having to factor in the unknown that an outdoor wedding entails certainly adds an extra element of danger.
5 Things I Love About Outdoor Weddings and/or Receptions 1. The contrast of white tablecloths against a night sky
2. Candles - lots of candles
3. More flowers than ever
4. Green - lots of green (see candles)
5. Getting married under the sun
5 Things That Make Outdoor Weddings More Unpredictable
1. Wind
2. Rain
3. Bugs
4. Heat
5. Walking across the grass while the heels of your shoes sink into the grass
But, despite those last 5 things (the things that are so difficult to control) the thought of dancing under the stars with twinkling lights surrounding you or the scent of flowers and fresh cut grass while you say your vows intrigues me.
So...what about you? Have you attended any outdoor weddings or receptions? What was it like? Were there problems? Any unforeseen events?

Some friends of mine married on the beach in Hawaii. While the setting was glorious, the mother of the groom complained some about the wind, but more about trying to walk in the sand in shoes. Maybe they should have gone barefoot!

I have never attended an outdoor wedding, but think it would be lovely in the spring as long at the weather was nice. You never can depend on the weather though.

I've only attended one outdoor wedding. My niece remarried, and she wanted it small, so she had her ceremony in a park (a very large park). It was early September, so the flowers were still blooming. Very casual, but pretty. And, of course, there were lots of nice photos will all that green.
You're right about that weather, though. We were lucky that day. (Wouldn't it be awful to have it rain when you've planned something like that)?
One of the websites I visited said to make sure that the place where you were having the wedding also had a room you could move to if necessary, but that would be so disappointing I would think.

OH, the picture of Sydney made me homesick...
My daughter married inside but had their photos done at Terrigal Beach. The photographer, Karen, brought flip flops for the wedding party to wear and wash cloths and towels for after. Smart woman!

We have attended a few outdoor weddings. Some were lovely...others a bit buggy. Still, they were all perfect. Can you tell I love weddings? :)
