Weddings in the Movies

I like nothing better than to pour myself a glass of wine, grab some dark chocolate, sit back on the couch and enjoy a romantic movie. My husband calls them girl movies. I've heard others refer to them as chick flicks. All I know is I love watching them! And if there happens to be a wedding involved somewhere in the plot, all the better. I just want to be sure I have a box of tissues nearby. I cry during weddings no matter if they're real or on the screen.

Over on The Wedding Planners thread at eharlequin, a few of us were talking about wedding movies. Lots of titles were mentioned such as Father of the Bride, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Runaway Bride. It got me thinking about how many movies, not just romantic ones, actually have weddings in them. I went searching on YouTube and found a couple of clips that celebrate weddings in movies. Enjoy!

Do you have a favorite wedding movie? What about your favorite wedding scene in a movie?

Melissa,
This was wonderful! I laughed and cried, too.

I always loved Runaway Bride, then again I love anything with Julia Roberts in it. All the movies you mentions were great movies.

Ooh, Dru has a good one. My favorite Wedding movie is My Big Fat Greek Wedding. To know he went through all that with her family, for her. Brings tears to my eyes every time. *G*

I loved the videos, especially the second one. There's too many to pick a favorite.

Fun post. I love, love, love weddings in movies. I'm also dying to know who was singing the song in the first video. Anyone recognize it?

It might be because I saw it recently - but I love the wedding scene in Sweet Home Alabama.
There's also "The Wedding Date" - which is interesting, but a wedding movie, and then that new one coming out with Patrick Dempsey which seems to be a reverse of "My Best Friend's Wedding"...

The book of "The Wedding Date" -- Asking for Trouble -- was written by romance author Liz Young and is a really, really good read.

I do love The Runaway Bride. That desperation to be the "perfect one" for the man we love strikes such a chord. :)

PS I hate those scrambled letters -- for those of us with poor eyesight it is a nightmare. Here goes my third attempt to post!

I have to say I am not a fan of weddings in movies in general. However, the wedding in the Sound of Music was Grand!
