Coming Up Next Week…and The Five-Minute Wedding

We have some great things coming up this week. Regina the photographer is planning to stop by, we'll have a visit from a real wedding photographer who has traveled all around the world and more (and don't forget to post comments to enter the contest--see May 3rd post).

But, in the meantime, and since weddings wouldn't be weddings without a little romance and fun, I thought I'd ask everyone to participate in a "five minute wedding" plan.

Remember when we were young, and girls would make those little folded-paper fortune tellers that you put on your fingers that asked such mature questions such as "who does Cindy like?" Other questions were "what's your favorite color, favorite song, favorite…I can't even remember all of them.

It was silly stuff, but it's Sunday, the flowers are blooming and I'm in that kind of "let's do something fun" mood. So…my challenge to you is this: come up with the basics for your "no restrictions" pretend wedding in 5 minutes (and just for the heck of it, let's assume we're all unmarried and whatever age we choose to be. Some of us—and I'm not saying who—are also going to pretend that our scale always reads 122 pounds).

Okay, here goes. This is FANTASY WEDDING – PART 1. Join in by leaving a comment answering the following questions:
1. What color are your bridesmaids wearing?
2. Where is the wedding being held?
3. Where will the honeymoon be?
4. You can have any singer or band play at your wedding. Who will that be?
5. And the biggie…assume that you could have a stand-in celebrity groom for a day (you get your true love back at the end of the day). Who would be your stand-in celebrity groom?

And yes! This is sooo very juvenile! (I'm not even going to wonder what that says about me).

I'll hop right in there and start. In my fantasy wedding:
1. Bridesmaids are in candy apple red with black piping
2. The wedding is in Bar Harbor, Maine standing on the rocks by the shore
3. The honeymoon will be in England (Lyme Regis)
4. The singer? Bruce Springsteen
5. The Celebrity Groom – Oh, it's still Pierce Brosnan – I'm still a Pierce kind of girl

Love this game. Love seeing everyone's different choices.

1. What color are your bridesmaids wearing?

Simple black dresses. Each will wear a sash, probably in citrus colors.

2. Where is the wedding being held?

Nottoway Plantation outside New Orleans complete with white open carriages.

3. Where will the honeymoon be?

Italy.

4. You can have any singer or band play at your wedding. Who will that be?

Celine Dion accompanied by the National Symphony.

5. And the biggie…assume that you could have a stand-in celebrity groom for a day (you get your true love back at the end of the day). Who would be your stand-in celebrity groom?

Ryan Seacrest, that way if anything went wrong he could make some clever comment and all would be well! (Besides, he looks so good in a suit.)

I used those little fortune telling things when I was young and I still remember how to make them. How silly where we as little girls.

1. The bridesmaids are all wearing black dresses. (I've always wanted a black and white wedding.)
2.The wedding is being held outside at a local Park.
3.The Honeymoon will be in Scotland.
4. I'd love to have Allbanach. (They wear KILTS!)
5.Um, fantasies are all well and good, but I don't think I'd want to marry anyone but my Hubs. *G*

Oh how fun! I love fantasy anything! I am a dreamer and romantic at heart! O.k. here are my answers,

1. The bridesmaids are wearing beautiful royal blue gowns nipped in at the waist, with pearl trim at the 3/4 length hem that is cut at a flattering angle and pearls sprinkled a little at the short sleeve, with pearl necklaces and earrings, a gift from me. They have their hair in a beautiful, sleek updo.
2. The wedding is held in the Sistine Chapel or in an old historic church that has beautiful stained glass windows in the chapel.
3. My fantasy dream honeymoon would be on the island of Aruba. I love the tropics!
4. My fantasy singer at my wedding would have to be Neil Diamond! Oh does he ever have a voice that melts your heart.
5. The dream groom would have to be, hmm..., Maks S., the dancer on Dancing with the Stars. I don't know how you spell his last name. Boy is he a hunk! He has these smoldering bedroom eyes, buff body, dark hair, very romantic on the dance floor, and just everything in the right places!

What a fun fantasy game! Thanks for letting us all dream a little!

1. Just a maid of honor wearing my favorite shade of ballet pink.
2. Wedding and honeymoon on Kaui.
3. No music--just the waves breaking on the shoreline.
4. Sorry, but no celebrity groom--my husband is a keeper!

It's so awesome to see so many of us preferring our own real life heroes to celebrity ones! What a great tribute to romance. Of course, I had fun thinking up one anyway. Michelle, Maks on Dancing with the Stars--yum!! I'd forgotten about him.

And the Sistine Chapel--oh, it would be wonderful to have a ceremony in one of those beautiful old churches with light glowing through the stained glass and the great spiritual hush over everything.....lovely.

Ladies, this is fun. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your 'dream' weddings.

This has been fun to read about!

1. Maid of honor dresses in pale pink
2. Either a big cathedral or outside on the balcony of a villa on Lake Como in Italy.
3. Lake Como, Italy or a European Castle
4. A string quartet would be fine, no singer needed.
5. Hubby would be just perfect, but since this is fantasy, forget a celebrity, I want a fictional character from the movies.. Anakin Skywalker!

Wedding on the head overlooking Umina Beach (where we used to live in Australia - it's just stunning, overlooking the colony of fairy penguins at Lion Island)
Honeymoon...Scotland too, exploring the old castles and Pictish forts and standing stones.
Singer? Josh Groban...so romantic
Celebrity groom - Gerard Butler, all done up as the Phantom :-D
