Famous Celebrity Weddings of the Past

It seems as if every day we're reading about a celebrity getting married or getting engaged, and that's a lot of fun. But we all know who the current crop of newly married or almost married couples are.
What were some of the famous weddings of the past?

How about...Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward?

Or Jacqueline Lee Bouvier and John F. Kennedy?

Of course, we all remember Lady Diana and Prince Charles. There have been posts about that gorgeous dress on this very blog. But what about Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier?

Other weddings we've watched (or read about) with interest include Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki and Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu:

Of course, back when I was teaching (a long time ago), I remember the other teachers all wanted to see the wedding of Luke and Laura (from General Hospital). And yes, I know they weren't real, but I swear that people talked about them as if they really existed.

What are some other famous celebrity weddings you can think of?

Oh my goodness! Luke and Laura! I remember that wedding. Well, sort of. I remember everybody raving about it and wondering who the hell are these people? In the days before Tivo, if you worked full-time, you didn't see the soaps. LOL.

Jacki Kennedy is one of my all-time favorite people. That photo from her wedding is my favorite.

And Princess Di? My friends and I got up at 4:00 am to see the wedding. It was internation fun!

Thanks, Myrna, for such great memories!

I remember all of the weddings you mentioned. I am showing my age here! :) I also remember Lyndon Johnson's daughters' weddings in the White House. Celebrity weddings are fascinating. I enjoy looking at the pictures in People magazine. I am always astounded by the amount of money they spend on the weddings...seems like enough to feed a third world country! What a waste!

movie star Julia Roberts and country singer Lyle Lovett- he chose her dress for her.

Melissa Rivers and ? Endicott- the 100 white Birch trees that adorned her entry into the wedding venue. Joan Rivers is more a celebrity than her daughter I suppose.

Guess I must be a little strange because altho I am familiar with all the celebrity weddings mentioned I really didn't/don't pay much attention to any of them.

Oh my, Lyndon Johnson's daughters' weddings! I had forgotten.

And Lyle Lovett choosing a dress for Julie Roberts? I don't think I knew about that.

I thought of the white house weddings too and am really surprised that Bush's daughter didn't indulge. Princess Di's wedding fascinated me the most! That dress must have weighed a ton and a half.
